Los Posada remembers the hardships the Mary and Joseph had on their way to Bethlehem. There is a procession every night from December 16 through December 24. In this procession, there is usually a small child representing Mary and a small Child representing Joseph. If possible, Mary is on a donkey and the rest of the people in the procession are dressed as the 3 magi, shepherds and shepherdesses. This process goes to several houses and knocks on the door. In summary, Mary and Joseph are asking for lodging and are turned away. Some references say that they are turned away from 2 houses each night and the third house will let them enter.

The house which they enter always has a crèche or a nativity scene. After some prayers in the area of the crèche a party takes place. A star piñata is often used during this party to represent the star that led the wise men to the Christ child.

Let me start with saying that I, personally, am glad that the election season is finally over. If it wasn’t for the Olympics, I would have been tempted to unplug the TV for the year.

Having lived abroad, I am aware of and grateful for the many great things about this country. I am proud to be a US citizen. We have so much. I do not know, nor do I want to know who won your vote. I am just so glad that we have the opportunity to vote with secret ballots.

Back to the topic at hand. We did get lots of orders from the unannounced political piñata sale. However, the sales were not what we expected. The orders either had “The Man” piñata or they had an order of both a donkey and an elephant. I thought that this was very strange. I expected to get lots of orders for either the donkey or the elephant but not both. My political piñata party was canceled so please let me know what you are doing with these piñatas. I really want to know.

The decision makers really do listen to you .  An example of this is that the Christmas piñatas will be on sale for November and December instead of just December as was previously scheduled.

We also had some complaints about the Sponge Bob Square Pants piñatas.  That piñata was not made in Mexico.  We agree that the quality was not the same.  It has been taken off of the website.

Having said all of that, I want to give you some tips about contacting online retailers:

1) Make sure that there is a way to respond to you.  Positive or negative, make sure that your email address is correct.  It is very frustrating to try to work with someone and have the email bounce.

2) Be clear about what it is that you would like.  It’s OK to state a problem or suggestion in a couple of different ways.  Everyone processes information differently.  The more information that you give to us, the better we can give you what you want.

3) Be nice.  If you are nice, almost everything is negotiable.

4) When giving positive feedback, please give more details!  There are some great compliments that have passed through my virtual desk.  Unfortunately, these were simply too short or too vague to put on the website.

Piñata Supply Co has a section called “patriotic piñatas.” These piñatas are usually on sale for the fourth of July. But I have to tell you that I am ready to buy a few of these and throw an “I’m tired of all these political commercials party”

Did you really think that I would be placing my political views here? Well I have not noticed that any of the candidates are against piñatas so there is really nothing to say.

I could have a party and let everyone beat on the political piñata of their choice OR I could just get a couple of piñatas and beat on them whenever I get particularly annoyed by a commercial or “news” report. Which do you think that I should do? What talking device should I use?

I am always surprised at how few piñatas I see at these events. Add a piñata to a silent auction display or a vacation spot, sporting event or party planning and the bids go up. If the display is nice, the people tend to bid a higher. Piñatas insinuate fun and therefore make the item more desirable.

Piñata Supply Co has listened to me when I complained about this. We have a few piñatas which were returned for various reasons. These piñatas have been or will be donated to charities so that they can place them into their auctions.
